This past weekend, we attended the 18th Annual Intercontinental Miami Make-A-Wish Foundation Ball. On the red carpet, we had the opportunity to CYInterview a variety of celebrities. In coming days we will bring you some of those conversations. The event raised over $1.6 million dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida.
For starters, I spoke with The X Factor season one winner Melanie Amaro. Melanie was the main entertainment for the evening.

Finishing a 45 minute set, Melanie paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston by singing one of her classics, I Have Nothing. In our red carpet CYInterview with the talent show winner, Ms. Amaro spoke about what it meant to be performing at the Make-A-Wish Foundation Ball:
“It means a lot. Being able to grant kid’s wishes is just amazing. I think that me being here, supporting it, is just big.”
Since winning the premiere season of the American version of The X Factor last year, the singer’s life has changed dramatically. Winning the reality TV competition earned her a five million dollar contract. Melanie’s debut album is slated to drop in early December.
“Now you know I get noticed a whole lot and there’s a lot more going on in my life right now. I get to do what I love every day. So it’s definitely been a big change for me for the best.”
The singer, with ties to the Virgin Islands and Florida, appeared alongside Elton John in a Pepsi commercial that aired during Super Bowl XLVI. Never in her wildest dreams would she have thought that would have happened:
“I never would have imagined doing a commercial with him. He is definitely someone that I think is humongous in my book. I mean he sold millions of albums. So I definitely feel like I can learn a lot from him and I did. I took a lot, you know, from him while shooting the commercial.”
