We have already shared with you our report on The Blacks’ Annual Gala, as well as photos from that dazzling evening [see here]. Today we will begin with a couple of CYInterviews from the event.
First up is attorney and past CYInterview guest Roy Black. Following that is a conversation with musician Taylor Hicks. You can read the highlights or listen to the CYInterviews with Roy Black and Taylor Hicks below:

For 19 years attorney Roy Black has been alongside his wife Lea at the annual event bearing their name, which benefits The Consequences Foundation. Mr. Black has been with us before on CYInterview, commenting on various topics. We spoke with him about the event and the charities it supports. Additionally, we got his thoughts on The Real Housewives of Miami.
The Blacks’ Annual Gala raises money for the Consequences Foundation. Roy talks about how the charity helps at risk youth:
“There are many thousands that we’ve worked with getting scholarships, putting them in schools, getting them clothes, getting them eyeglasses, getting their teeth fixed, all the kinds of things that interfere with kids actually getting an education because you know our goal is to see as many of our children as possible get a decent education and get a decent start in life. The problem is how many kids are there that don’t have a chance. I mean we’ve gotta give them a chance. They’ll run with it if we can help them out.”
It was back in January when we asked Lea her thoughts on what Roy’s opinion of her being on The Real Housewives of Miami [see here] was. Now Roy tells us what he thinks of the Bravo program:
“I do not get involved in The Real Housewives. I have enough drama in my life as it is. I’m not getting between these women when they start getting in arguments and anything and I’ll support my wife. She’s always supported me on everything I do. So I support her being in the program, but it’s not my kind of thing I can assure you.”
One of the talents for the evening’s event was season five winner of American Idol Taylor Hicks. Taylor is currently performing in a show at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. He spoke with us about that and some of the charitable causes he works with, beyond his donating time to The Blacks’ Annual Gala. See my photo with Taylor above.
In 2006, Taylor Hicks won season five of American Idol. Today, he is the first performer from the Fox show to have a long running gig in Las Vegas, at the Paris Hotel. Taylor told us this about the Las Vegas experience:
“It’s going great. I’m in Paris, the hotel. It’s a wonderful gig and to be able to have a headlining show in Vegas, it’s pretty awesome.”
Besides donating his performing time to The Blacks’ Annual Gala, Taylor told us about some of the other charitable causes he’s involved in:
“I do a lot with Habitat for Humanity and obviously my state [Alabama] has been kind of snakebit so to speak with tornadoes. So the Red Cross is real high on my list.”
