Hail Fellow Well Met; a Poem

Hail Fellow Well Met
A Writer Sits upon his deck
He sits and writes and dreams and thinks
While God Almighty Nods and Winks

This writer comes from other lands
Now, the sands of time are upon his hands
His brow furls as he ponders and queries
Yet of being a scribe he never wearies

Meantime, Naysayers do what they do best
They tell him to quit and join the rest
To give up his dreams and cast them aside
But what drives this writer is more than pride

He has a message he wants out
Yet he is not the kind to scream and shout
Some of his ideas might seem a bit strange
Though it is not your life he wants to rearrange

He’s a thinker, a dreamer, a man in the mist
But when we turn around he is in our midst
This wordsmith dreams of a better way
With acceptance and kindness the order of the day

It is Early Morn
Well before the break of dawn
He’s in his bed, yet quickly arises
And from his pen flow reflective surprises

Truthfulness is what he seeks
He knows dabbling in truthiness truly reeks
‘Cause the illusion of truth can yield apocalyptic hell
While truth itself can calm any swell

Obliteration and the abyss
Mother’s milk and a tender kiss
Eagles soar and doves coo
The world holds good and evil; so do me and you

This writer’s world can be a lonely place
It’s not like poker; there is no Ace
It is not chess either, though at times he feels rooked
Though his gentle suggestions should not be overlooked

Hail Fellow Well Met
A Writer Sits upon his deck
He sits and writes and dreams and thinks
While God Almighty Nods and Winks
