Every team in college football has a tough opponent. We at CYInterview breakdown what we believe is the toughest opponents for each team from the five major conferences and independents.

Whether you are a fan of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC or PAC 12, the opinions offered below are sure to make for great conversation, as we look at the toughest opponent for every school and the date the game will be played on.

Based on preseason rankings, history and last year’s results is how we made our conclusions on who is the toughest opponents for the above mentioned teams, for the upcoming college football season. You can find them below:

ACC:

Florida State: Alabama on September 2nd

Virginia Tech: Clemson on September 30th

Clemson: At Louisville on September 16th

Louisville: At Florida State on October 21st

NC State: At Florida State on September 23rd

Wake Forest: At Clemson on October 7th

Syracuse: At Florida State on November 4th

Boston College: At Clemson on September 23rd

North Carolina: Louisville on September 9th

Miami: At Florida State on September 16th

Pittsburgh: At Penn State on September 9th

Georgia Tech: At Clemson October 28th

Virginia: At Louisville on November 11th

Duke: At Virginia Tech on October 28th

Analysis: Clemson, FSU, Louisville or Virginia Tech is going to win the ACC this year.

Big 12:

Oklahoma: At Ohio State September 9th

Oklahoma State: Oklahoma on November 4th

West Virginia: At Oklahoma on November 25th

Kansas State: Oklahoma on October 21st

TCU: At Oklahoma on November 11th

Texas: At USC on September 16th

Texas Tech: At Oklahoma on October 28th

Baylor: Oklahoma on September 23rd

Iowa State: At Oklahoma on October 7th

Kansas: Oklahoma on November 18th

Analysis: We think Oklahoma and their quarterback Baker Mayfield will win the Big 12 this year. However, West Virginia or Oklahoma State could always surprise us.

Big Ten:

Penn State: At Ohio State on October 28th

Ohio State: At Michigan on November 25th

Indiana: Ohio State on August 31st

Michigan: Ohio State on November 25th

Maryland: At Ohio State on October 7th

Michigan State: At Ohio State on November 11th

Rutgers: At Michigan October 28th

Wisconsin: Michigan on November 18th

Iowa: Ohio State on November 4th

Nebraska: Ohio State on October 14th

Minnesota: At Michigan on November 4th

Northwestern: At Wisconsin September 30th

Illinois: At Ohio State November 18th

Purdue: At Wisconsin on October 14th

Analysis: An argument can be made for Penn State, Michigan or Ohio State to win the Big 10 this year. Wisconsin could also be a dark horse surprise.

SEC:

Alabama: At Auburn on November 25th

Florida: Michigan on September 2nd

Tennessee: At Alabama on October 21st

Georgia: Florida on October 28th

Kentucky: Louisville on November 25th

South Carolina: Clemson on November 25th

Vanderbilt: Alabama on September 23rd

Missouri: Florida on November 4th

Auburn: Alabama on November 25th

LSU: At Alabama on November 4th

Texas A&M: Alabama on October 7th

Arkansas: At Alabama on October 14th

Mississippi State: Alabama on November 11th

Ole Miss: At Alabama on September 30th

Analysis: No surprise here. It will be Alabama or Auburn winning the SEC West and either Florida, Georgia or Tennessee winning the SEC East. Alabama is still the favorite to win the conference.

Pac 12:

Washington: At Colorado on September 23rd

Washington State: At Washington on November 25th

Stanford: Washington on November 10th

Oregon State: At Washington State September 16th

California: At Washington October 7th

Oregon: At Washington November 4th

Colorado: Washington on September 23rd

USC: At Washington State on September 29th

Utah: At Washington on November 18th

Arizona State: At Stanford on September 30th

UCLA: At USC on November 18th

Arizona: at USC on November 4th

Analysis: Washington, Washington State, Colorado and USC will be the toughest opponents on all the Pac 12 team’s schedules this year.

Independents:

Notre Dame: USC on October 21st

BYU: Wisconsin on September 16th

Analysis: Notre Dame and BYU have a lot of tough opponents on their schedules this year.
