Last month, we introduced you to the reigning Miss Florida USA, Michelle Aguirre [see here]. It has been ten months since the blonde Cuban beauty won the coveted title. This past weekend, she held her going away party at the Academy of Glam in Cooper City before heading off to compete for the Miss USA crown, at the end of the month, in Las Vegas.

Michelle partied the night away with her family, friends and fellow beauty queens from across the state including Miss. Ft Walton Beach Teen USA Savannah Tanney, Miss Capital City USA Caitlin Harrison, Miss Coral Gables USA Linette De Los Santos and Miss Hollywood USA Ashli Marie Wright.

Last month we shared with you our report [see here] from international designer Rosa Clara’s store opening on Miracle Mile in Miami. With 140 stores worldwide, the designer from Spain has been building a fashion empire for the last 18 years focusing on bridal and party gowns. We had the pleasure of speaking with Rosa during her store opening back in March.

Soon enough, everyone in Hollywood will know the name Angelo Guglielmo. The success of his television documentary and book, entitled, The Woman Who Wasn’t There has brought the author, director and producer mainstream recognition. Millions have now seen his documentary on the woman who pretended to be a 9/11 survivor. The story is now on the road to being made into a feature film. The Woman Who Wasn’t There is also in consideration to be nominated for this year’s primetime Emmy Awards.

As a creative professional who works behind the camera, Angelo has found his own way to show compelling pieces of the human experience. He is a superb documentary filmmaker. Now, he desires to move beyond documentaries into that very competitive arena known as Hollywood. Currently, he is focusing on succeeding in feature films.

Though it has been at least seven years since the scandal involving high powered lobbyist Jack Abramoff shook Washington, D.C., there are still pieces to the story being revealed. There seems to be a consensus in America that today’s political leadership leaves a lot to be desired. Many believe there is an unhealthy mix of lobbyists and money with self-interested politicians all too open to being influenced on issues based on who curries favor with them.

Former Republican Congressman and House Administration Committee Chairman Bob Ney of Ohio was entangled in the Abramoff lobbying scandal and ended up serving 17 months in prison. In his new book, Sideswiped: Lessons Learned Courtesy of the Hit Men of Capitol Hill the former Congressman offers a candid portrayal of the conflicts of interest and corruption currently damaging America’s political system.

We live in an age of smartphones and smart televisions. These devices are not actually smart. They simply have an extended array of abilities. They are just tools. These devices can be utilized in an intelligent or unintelligent fashion, but that is up to the user.

Technology is neither good nor bad. It merely expands our capabilities. How we use technology is either good or bad. To use it well we need to immerse ourselves in something called consequential thinking. Today, it seems the siren song of our devices is so powerful that we fail to spend enough time thinking about how to properly utilize them. We do not think about the consequences of our actions.
