When it comes to people seeking entertainment centering on the male physique, the latest installment of the Chippendales show at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino fits the bill. Labor Day weekend 2017 was special, because it was the latest sendoff for celebrity model Tyson Beckford, who is part of the shirtless crew of men who make women scream nightly. Though Tyson might have joined Chippendales as a celebrity member, he easily fit into the crew.

Though Chippendales has been around much longer than the Magic Mike movies, starring actor Channing Tatum, an argument can be made that those films brought back interest in this type of performance. There are currently multiple shows featuring shirtless, buff men in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

As for the Chippendales show itself, men and women should take note that the show has ongoing nudity and teases. At certain points during the show, some of the audience’s women are given lap dances, slow dances and one woman was even asked to dress and dry off Tyson Beckford after he got out of a full nude, shower scene performance he did on stage.

From Bachelorette parties to a gals’ weekend out, Chippendales is a great stop for women who want to let loose and, perhaps, have some of their personal fantasies come true.

So what is in for the fall season, fashion wise? Wardrobe/lifestyle expert, entrepreneur and personal shopper Angelique Michelle joins us to clue us in.

A resident of Washington D.C., who frequently travels, Angelique has spent many years in the fashion industry providing guidance to a variety of celebrities, which her bio tells us includes Gloria Estefan [see here] and retired NFL star Clinton Portis [see here], both of whom have been CYInterview guests.

Ms. Michelle is the President and CEO of Iconiq. Her company does image consulting and virtual styling. Her business just launched a mobile phone app that you can download in the Google Plus Store and Apple Store, called the Iconiq Style App.

When it comes to colors for the fall season, Angelique Michelle shared this:

“Like the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, the book Fifty Shades of Grey, they’ll be 50 shades of gray this fall. So they’re mixing a lot of neutral colors like grey and tan and like the camel color. They’re mixing a lot of those with a bright color. So you’ll see a solid grey dress or a solid grey jacket, but they’ll put it over a mixed pattern dress or if it’s like the swing vest, what I like to call the un-coat, you’ll see a lot that over something with a pattern to it and a bright color. So I know that blue is gonna be a big hit for the fall. There are a lot of things, a lot of designers that are wearing blue. Currently, there was just New York Fashion Week and there was a lot of blue coming down the runway. And when I say blue, I mean the dark blue.”

As a fashion pro who consults to a variety of celebrities, Angelique has some powerful advice for women, when it comes to looking their very best:

“Look at your body type. See what works best for you and then follow that guideline. So if you know that you look great in low rise jeans, then you know what? Get several pairs of low rise jeans to wear with different tops. If you look great in pencil pants that have a high waist, if that’s the look that you look great in, then you get that in different colors, different styles. … So you want to dress for your body and still incorporate fashion into it, but dress for your body. Don’t dress for what’s in. That’s my style advice.”

Iconiq Style Phone App, Angelique Michelle
Angelique Michelle’s phone app is now available for download

Her virtual styling company has just launched an app. Angelique tells us why it is something every fashion enthusiast should use:

“It’s called Iconiq Style App. And it’s available in your Google Play Store and your Apple Store. It’s a virtual styling app where I could actually style your look for any occasion. If I wasn’t your stylist and you had a stylist you already use, you can actually use the app to style you as well. And it’s great for organizing your wardrobe, seeing what’s in your closet. And if you were out shopping and you say, ‘You know what? I need to check on these shoes, you know and see if I need them.’ You can look at all the shoes in your closet and say, ‘Alright, I need these shoes or I don’t need these shoes.’ So Iconiq is basically your virtual wardrobe styling, personal styling, shopping and closet organization all in one.”

As a business owner, Ms. Michelle offers some good insight on getting America back on track, economically.

“I feel like America needs to invest in America. That’s one of the main things. So if we’re talking about growing our country and bringing things back, then we need to manufacture here, we need to support small businesses. It’s a billion dollars that’s generated in America every year and it’s mainly outsourced or in another country. So we need to keep the dollars right here in our country and start generating them. You should support a small business because that’s how businesses grow. Walmart’s a big business because you know what? One day they started with one store and now they have hundreds of stores. So in order for businesses to grow, you have to actually support them. You can’t just go for the mainstream.”

The invitation to that show came about in an interesting way. Sometime before the show took place, we had the opportunity to cover a performance by Grammy Award winner Mya, at the South Beach club Mokai [see here].

It was a great night. In fact, we had the opportunity to hang with Mya before and after her performance. Not only is she a great singer, she is a terrific person. That evening, Mya was wearing a particularly eye catching dress designed by Ms. Toporova. The design was so well done that we got in touch with her and that led to the invitation.

At the swimsuit fashion show, one of the models we met was Kiara Pace. Fast forward from 2012 to 2014, Kiara decided that she wanted to take her modeling career from Miami to New York. After saving enough money, selling her car and finding an apartment, she took off for the Big Apple.

Ms. Pace is currently residing in New York, has cultivated relationships in the fashion industry there, has local representation and is a working model. Additionally, she has had the chance to experience some of the great things New York has to offer. Above, is a photograph of Kiara at the recent Afropunk Fest in Brooklyn, at the end of August.

With New York Fashion Week starting in a few days, we bring you the inspiring story of model Kiara Pace. Her progress is taking place step by step. She is working as a model, living in New York City and most importantly, living her dream.

In the two years she has been in New York since moving from Florida, Kiara Pace says this about her progress:

“Here, when I’m doing something, it’s monumental. It’s a milestone in my career. So I appreciate that even though it’s slow progress, it’s major progress at the same time. So I might not do something for a month, but when I do get this booking, I’m gonna meet with Alexander Wang or I’m gonna do this magazine spread for this magazine in Canada or I’m gonna do something big. So I really like my progress.”

Moving to the Fashion Capital of America no doubt comes with some interesting experiences. On the lessons she has learned as a model in the big city, she says this:

“I learned that things take time. I shouldn’t expect to come up here and do what I want to do from the bag, like I had to work my way in just like I did in Florida. I learned about saving. Oh yeah. Things are expensive here from toilet paper to a sandwich. Everything’s expensive, but you learn that you only need to get what you need and don’t worry about everything that you want because New York will make you think you need everything, especially going on Fifth Ave for shops. I stay away.”

To all the models across the country who are thinking about moving to New York, to further their career, Kiara says she did things the hard way, but two years later, she has settled into a life and made it happen:

“I ended up making enough money and selling my car to save and I literally moved up here without an apartment. Moved up here, stayed in a hotel for a week, found an apartment and moved in. So I mean, I choose the rough way, but any way you can, like, any type of way to get into New York because once you’re here, anything’s possible.”

Robin Leach gave us an appraisal of the state of luxury goods in America. He talked about Las Vegas being the number one city to shop for those kinds of goods. He also revisited the past, elaborating on what it was like to meet the Pope, while in Vatican City covering its treasures. And he commented on Donald Trump, as well as a variety of other topics.

Chris Yandek: Well, to begin, let me ask you, what is life like for Robin Leach now in Las Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World? What is this part of your life like now?

Robin Leach: “Crazy is probably the best word to use to describe it because I’ve never ever in my entire life seen a city so busy with so many different things to cover. You know, I run the Vegas Deluxe website and that really is 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And we have more stars going through this city with shows. We have more disc jockeys playing in nightclubs here, we have more parties, more of everything than any other city in the world. So it’s non-stop.”

CY: One of the big things, of course, in the last week was Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday. He was at a gala. Could you tell me a little about the big event from this week?

RL: “Tony Bennett celebrating his 90th birthday in August and I’ve been one of the people involved in Keep Memory Alive for the last nine years. And we started, this was the 20th year, but when I got involved with them, I started adding show business elements to the charity as a way of developing more fundraising, which has been very successful. We started with reuniting Siegfried and Roy to do one farewell performance with the tiger Montecore and that was pretty exceptional. And each year we’ve gone along, we’ve tried to up the ante as it were.

And one year we celebrated Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday and we sold a pair of his boxing gloves for one million dollars at the auction that I help announce. I don’t do the talking like the auctioneers do because I’m not that skilled. But we’ve had everybody from Michael Caine and Quincy Jones’s 80th birthday to this year, as we said, Tony Bennett 90th. So it’s become a very star studded affair with the best chefs in the world doing the dinner for everybody and this year we raised 17.1 million dollars, approximately for the Keep Memory Alive Center, which is The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Brain Center, which does all the research work and care for Alzheimer’s patients and other brain related diseases. And over the course of the 20 years, it’s been 250 odd million dollars that have been raised for this medical facility, all private, all corporate donation, no tax payer’s money, which is pretty extraordinary.”

CY: In 2011, I asked you, what is the state of luxury in America? You said that was the best and toughest question you have ever been asked. Five years later, state of luxury in America, what are your thoughts?

RL: “A little easier to answer this time around because luxury is back. You know, for the last eight years while we’ve had this administration in Washington, luxury has sort of been frowned upon. I think that’s gonna change come November with the White House becoming the gold house maybe. We’ll see what happens. But, no, we’re coming out of the economic doldrums and things are getting better, people are feeling a little more comfortable. There’s still a lot of shortcomings in the economy, jobs will solve that, people having more money to spend on luxury goods. The thing is that the one percent of the market that is never fazed with economic downturns is still alive, still well and very strong.

So, you’re seeing the Rolls-Royces and the Bentley’s still selling for big prices. You’re seeing jewelry still selling, art works at auction. There was a diamond that sold for I think 38 million, 48 million, something like that just a week ago. So prices are back up to their highs, getting stronger and more and more people seem to have more and more money to spend.”

CY: Many now consider Las Vegas to be the luxury good, shopping capital of America passing Manhattan and of course Rodeo Drive. Do you agree?

RL: “In a sense, yes, I do agree. The reason is, is that we have such a concentration of luxury good stores in three miles of the [Las Vegas] Strip. Retail sales have just about equaled to gaming revenues. Gaming revenues have slid down to 39, 40 percent of the revenues of hotels and casinos in this city. So the remaining 60 percent is now made up of shopping, purchases at retail, restaurant business and tourism attractions. So, yes, retail shopping has become far more important to this city and has a bigger bottom line than New York or Los Angeles.”

CY: Back in 2011, you said one of the highlights of Lifestyles and the Rich Famous was seeing the Pope’s treasures at the Vatican, but you never really told me anything about that. Could you tell me what that was like?

RL: “Well, all of it’s hidden, except to the cameras and I always thought it was a great shame that it had never really been seen because some of the things that are down there in the catacombs of the Vatican date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The first bible is down there. The first printed bible is down there. There’s lots of gifts that the Popes have been given over the years, there’s lots of antiques and items of interest that the Roman Catholic Church has collected over the years.

So to be shown it was jaw dropping. I’ll go into the voice of the old days, there was miles and miles of nothing but glitter and gold. And you know, I had, every Friday I had sent a letter to the Vatican, I think for five years asking if we could come and film the treasures of the Vatican. And we never got a reply for five years and I kept on sending the letter every week and finally out of the clear blue sky, they said that they had decided that we could start conversations.

I couldn’t believe it that we’d finally won. But you know, perseverance pays off and we eventually flew to Rome and took the cameras there. We were able to film the Pope going from his very, very modest home into the chapel for morning prayers and then we were given a tour of the treasures of the Vatican by one of the senior Vatican priests. So it was a lesson I learned. Never give up if you really want something, keep plugging away at it and your dreams can come true.”

CY: And your dreams continue to come true. No doubt about that. Speaking of the gold house now, you have profiled Donald Trump obviously. What do you make of all this craziness?

RL: “I love the fact that he’s shaking up the entire system. I mean, it’s a system that had to be shaken up. Whether or not he becomes the President of course is the unknown factor that nobody really can predict. I mean, there’s a movement out there that is angry about the way that the middle class has been forgotten in this country. And of course poverty, you know, for the low income class is a major problem. And it only gets arrested and dealt with, with work. And, you know, monetary compensation for hard work is the reward. That is the reward of hard work.

So, what’s happened in this country in recent years is that hard work has resulted in money being taken away from you to go to food stamps and other welfare things that have just exploded. And the reason it’s exploded is because those people don’t have jobs and it’s been easier to give them handouts than it has been to give them work. And I think that, that’s one of the things that needs to be shaken up. The system is wrong where it rewards the lack of interest in work with money, so you don’t have to work.

I mean, there are some people who get money just because they’ve got large families. So if it pays to make large families and earn more money than you would earn out at work, why not have more families, larger families? That’s wrong. So you can’t reward people who don’t want to work with more money than they would make while they were working. So that system has to be addressed and I think it will be.”

CY: You’re a man of principal I believe. You are somebody who has been to the Vatican, you’ve been to the richest man’s house in the world, the question I have for you more than anything regarding Donald Trump is when you look at the whole sociological situation, do any of his comments about taking out Muslim families or comments about Latin American people give you any cause for pause?

RL: “I’m not a politician. I don’t pretend to be a politician. I’m an independent. I can’t vote in this country ‘cause I’m not a citizen. He certainly resonates, Donald’s message resonates with a large number of people. So does Bernie Sanders. Now I know that those two men are opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to politics, but they’re both saying the same thing that the system is wrong and that the system has to be cleaned up. And what we’ve done is that we’ve lived in the status quo; if we’re gonna elect the same all over again, nothing will change whether it’s for the good or for the bad. You’ve got to have change.

And you know, Donald’s slogan of Make America Great Again, I think it touches a nerve that everybody says, ‘America’s ceased to be great.’ I mean, this is the country that I came to in 1963 and it was the promise land. And I knew that this was a country where hard work and discipline and dedication were rewarded. And I’m convinced that if the same opportunities were made available to everybody, people would want to better their lot in life. And in the end, if that’s what happens, whether it be, you know, the Left’s method of dealing with it or the Right’s method of dealing with it, if we can make America great again and if we can get everybody working and bettering their lot in life, then this becomes the great country that it once was, that it’s ceased to be.”

CY: Finally, Robin, thanks so much for joining me. It’s finally great to meet you, your philosophical and deep thoughts are always greatly appreciated. Love your analysis on things. You’re a substantive celebrity entertainment media personality. We need more of that today, of course. Finally, how often do you think about Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? Is there a thought of the past cross your mind every day or how often now?

RL: “Well, I answer the question by saying that I would never go back to doing the show again. I mean, every day I think about Lifestyles because somebody comes up to me and tells me how much they love the show and I should bring it back, but this is not the time to bring it back. I don’t think it would be as successful today as it once was. Firstly, I don’t have the energy to do what that took to do for 15 years in gallivanting around the world and producing the equivalent of 26 one hour shows a year. I mean, it was a grind for 15 straight years without a break.

It was an inspirational show and you know, yes it had the fluff of me jumping into a Jacuzzi dressed in a tuxedo. Yes, it had the fluff of me drinking large quantities of champagne and partying with the rich and famous and having tuxedo waiters ski down mountains to deliver buckets of caviar to somebody. All those things happened. All of those things were very real. But, woven through the interviews was the message that if you work hard, you will be rewarded if you work hard, if you get off your backside and pull up your socks and you set a goal, set a target, you can achieve it.

And it’s been wonderful, even to yesterday to hear from people who said that the show was an inspiration to them to strive for success and that happens every day of the week to this day. Look, we stopped doing the show in ’92, ’93. I helped start the Food Network, that was very successful and today, I’m still spreading the gospel of hard work pays off.”

CY: In Las Vegas of course. Robin, hang on with me, it was so great to finally meet you.

RL: “Nice to see you.”

Perhaps it is because of their quality, aesthetics and durability. Or, maybe, it is because luxury goods serve as status symbols. Whatever the case, economic conditions impact people’s buying decisions when it comes to high end items.

Too many individuals get caught up in rampant consumerism, no doubt. Insuring personal financial stability should come before acquiring luxurious yet unneeded items. At the same time, for people who work hard and are financially responsible, it is nice to buy something special once in a while. All of us need to find balance in our lives. This certainly applies to luxury goods.

With tremors running through the world economy, we thought that it would be a good time to discuss the state of luxury goods. We decided to bring in a couple of experts to CYInterview to give their opinions on the state of consumers and luxury items.

Joining us are two friends of CYInterview. With us from right here in Miami, Florida, a place where people love their luxury goods, is a true mover and shaker. She is known as the social mayor of Miami. She is a philanthropist, an entrepreneur, a novelist – having authored the successful Red Carpets & White Lies – and she was the star of The Real Housewives of Miami, she is none other than the lovely Lea Black.

And joining us from down under, direct from Brisbane, Australia is one of the bad boys of YouTube, yet in reality he is a good guy. Paul Pluta is a man who makes his living by way of luxury watch commentary. He gives us his thoughts on the recent NY Post article and how he believes wealthy people want something rare and unique over something simply new and expensive:

“What is so interesting about this new concept in New York is it’s dealing with a lot of preloved items and that demographic of high end, high net worth person, they’re spending their money in different ways now. Of years gone by, you always wanted the latest and greatest item. But what’s happening now is they want one off pieces that cannot be replicated. For example, they want absolutely perfect vintage pieces. They want pieces that haven’t been available in a store for 20, 30, 40 years and they want the best possible example of that piece.”

The man behind the YouTube personality Archie Luxury says this trend of rich people wanting hard to find watches and luxury items is something new that takes a lot of work and is a true challenge. Just having money alone will not guarantee you will be able to purchase rare and hard to find watches and luxury goods:

“Japan has the oldest taste in luxury goods because that is the oldest market for these type of items. And the interesting thing is, is that tastes are changing. They don’t want a piece which anyone can just buy. They want a piece that actually shows that they’ve hunted it down. You understand? Like acquiring a vintage Patek or a Vintage Porsche, it’s not just about slapping down the money. You’ve gotta hunt it out. You gotta know your craft. You need to know what is the good models, what are the not so good models, what characteristics make it amazing.”

The new James Bond movie, Spectre, is now in theaters. Typically, new watches find their way into the movie as part of 007’s wardrobe. This can serve as a means of promoting a certain brand’s new offerings. Giving his thoughts on the James Bond watch market, Paul gives us some Archie Luxury style commentary on the subject:

“The people who will buy these cheesy limited editions think just because they work in a call center on $35,000 a year and they’re 30 kilos overweight, just because they buy the James Bond watch does not make them sophisticated, doesn’t make them slim and it doesn’t make them an international man of mystery. There’s nothing worse than cheesy product placement. The only, the only, the only James Bond watch to have is the Plastic No Date Submariner. Two models, 5508 and 5513. That is it. That is the only James Bond watch.”

The story featured a variety of successful men trying to attract women’s attention with their luxury wristwatches. Those watches had prices starting from $10,000 and up.

Back in April we first welcomed, to CYInterview, watch aficionado and luxury goods commentator Paul Pluta – the man from Australia behind the famous YouTube/Internet personality Archie Luxury [see here]. Paul is back to provide his analysis on this phenomenon and to answer the question if what a man wears on his wrist will attract women. Giving his thoughts on the NY Post article, about men trying to attract the opposite sex with a variety of luxury watches, Paul said this:

“I think it’s fantastic. I think it’s fantastic. It makes me want to move to New York. It makes me want to move there. It sounds fantastic. This is so liberating this here. Why not? Why not? Why not indeed? … The man has to have any advantage he can do. Anything he can do to put himself forward dating the female has gotta be a good thing. It’s gotta be a good thing.

And don’t forget, New York City itself, this is where, you gotta remember this, New York City itself, this is where the woman wants at least a two carat engagement ring from Tiffany, Harry Winston or Cartier. This is the city. The benchmark is two carats plus. So it certainly doesn’t surprise me. It’s a very, very materialistic city and let’s be honest there, you know, everyone wants to try and get the best deal they can and they’re using whatever means necessary.”

When it comes to women noticing men with luxury watches, Paul tells a story about recently taking a client to a strip club, that is quite insightful:

“Last week, I was entertaining some Japanese business guys and they wanted to see a strip club. So we go to a strip club. … But I forgot that I had my 5970, that’s a Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph on my wrist. We find a spot and settle in, sip a drink and a beautiful girl sits down. After a few minutes of small talk, she says, ‘That’s a Patek isn’t it?’ Feeling stupid and more than a little worried, I say, ‘Nope. That’s just a cheap copy.’

Looking at my wrist in almost total darkness from three feet away she says, ‘Yeah. It’s too big to be that calendar stopwatch they make. What’s that one called again?’ And I am thinking, how the hell does this chick know what a 3970 is? 3970’s a smaller version of the 5970. And anyhow, ‘Why the interest in watches baby?’ Says an uncomfortable. She goes, ‘I can sort men by their watches and shoes.’ Says the expert. ‘Rolex guys are all flash, average wallet holds $120, a waste of time.’ She says. ‘My last Patek customer bought me a new car.’ There you go. That’s the story.”

Luxury’s Jekyll and Hyde: Couth and Classy Paul Pluta Creates Crass and Cunning Archie Luxury, Runs YouTube Channel on Luxury Wristwatches, Other Luxury Items; Uses Irreverence to Attract Attention http://www.cyinterview.com/luxurys-jekyll-and-hyde-couth-and-classy-paul-pluta-creates-crass-and-cunning-archie-luxury-runs-youtube-channel-on-luxury-wristwatches-other-luxury-items-uses-irreverence-to-attract-atte/ http://www.cyinterview.com/luxurys-jekyll-and-hyde-couth-and-classy-paul-pluta-creates-crass-and-cunning-archie-luxury-runs-youtube-channel-on-luxury-wristwatches-other-luxury-items-uses-irreverence-to-attract-atte/#comments Wed, 01 Apr 2015 04:02:13 +0000 http://www.cyinterview.com/?p=17378 Baselworld is a yearly trade show in Basel, Switzerland where a large number of the world’s watch companies come to show off their wares. Wristwatch enthusiasts – a group that appears to be growing in numbers, even with an uncertain world economy – come to this event, write about it and discuss it passionately online.

With the ending of Baselworld 2015, we began to think of who we might bring onto CYInterview to discuss luxury wristwatches. To be sure, there are a good number of intelligent, knowledgeable and well-spoken wristwatch critics around, some who run excellent websites devoted to watches. There are also magazines dedicated to high end horology.

But in this age of reality television and with a growing trend toward outlandish personalities developed and promoted via social media, we wanted more than someone with mere knowledge of watches. We were interested in bringing someone onto CYInterview who was, perhaps, controversial.

Enter Paul Pluta, an intelligent, well-spoken commentator and critic in the area of luxury goods, particularly wristwatches. He has created the Archie Luxury Channel on YouTube. There he tirelessly posts content with watches as the centerpiece of discussion, in a kind of soap opera covering his life, luxury wristwatches, the state of the Western World, women and more.

Mr. Pluta, created and plays the role of Archibald Chesterfield III on the channel. Archie is a living contradiction. He is a snobbish, condescending bon vivant who claims he is lower middle class and readily tells of his foibles, in addition to his continually expressed, unrepentant love of luxury.

The character of Archibald Chesterfield III, more commonly known as Archie Luxury, speaks of himself as an international YouTube celebrity and luxury goods guru. Looking at the comments on his channel, it would appear that some folks love him and some folks, well, let’s just say they like to throw virtual rotten fruit at him. One thing is certain, however. Mr. Pluta, by way of his Archie character, is working hard at succeeding at what he claims is now a full time pursuit. And it seems his base of followers is growing.

Pluta, who says he is a former IT professional, comes off as both likeable and knowledgeable when he is not performing as Archie Luxury. However, once in character, he is, like a professional wrestling heel, outlandish and unpredictable. The better to gain attention, we imagine.

We spoke with Paul as Paul, to gain his insights into the world of luxury wristwatches, getting his critique on seven notable watches, as well as listening to him hold forth on other topics.

Featured columnist Jay Bildstein joins me for this more than 50 minute conversation with Mr. Pluta.

(Watches discussed include the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso , Rolex Submariner, Patek Phillipe Calatrava, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Vacheron Constantin Toledo, Omega Speedmaster Professional and Breitling Navitimer.)

Every month, folks click onto the Archie Luxury YouTube channel to view Paul Pluta’s videos. On why he wanted to be one of the media voices of the luxury goods world, he tells us this:

“I was so sick of traditional luxury type commentators where everything is there, they’ve got all there i’s dotted, the t’s crossed, very up-market. They have this perception that really wealthy people don’t swear, they’re not crass, they’re very much refined and sophisticated, they only listen to classical music and they don’t mix with normal every day type people. So I kind of wanted to throw that stereotype away. In my own case, I always, my fascination for luxury goods, I’m a lower middle class person. I could never afford to buy these things new. … I created this character who isn’t technically politically correct. He’s not someone who just toes the line and is polite and nice. He can be nasty, crass and vulgar as any person is, but he has this fascination for luxury type goods.”

With a following on YouTube, Mr. Pluta has had people pay him to create video reviews of their luxury possessions. He agrees that it is somewhat narcissistic:

“I think by doing the reviews, people very much like to show off what they’ve got and they like to get the commentary. They, look, misery has a lot of friends. If you have pieces that other people can’t afford, that makes people feel very good about themselves. It makes them feel better than other people. People get a kick out of it. So they definitely, people really do like showing off their collections. And narcissistic? Of course it’s narcissistic. We all want everyone to say you’ve made the right choice.”

In the in-depth audio portion of this CYInterview you can listen to above, we discuss in great detail a variety of luxury watches. On how you can obtain some of these watches for the best prices possible, Mr. Pluta recommends this:

“I’ve always said to people, find yourself a good dealer, a good watch dealer and become friends with them. They may not be the cheapest, they may not be the absolute cheapest, but if you entrust them and stay with a dealer, a second hand watch dealer who you like and can work with, there are huge savings, huge savings.”
